The Gotland regional coat of arms, which was reintroduced in connection with Gotland becoming Swedish at the peace of Brmsebro in 1645, depicts a ram. The coat of arms is taken from the first known Gotland seal from 1280, and depicts a variant of the Agnus Dei motif (Latin for "Lamb of God" and refers to Christ as a sacrificial lamb in his crucifixion).
